The Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra presents a Kaleidoscope of beautiful forms with a fusion of orchestral music, classic cars, elegant fashion, movement and song.
The 60 piece orchestra features Conductor Mark Turpin, winner of the Entertainment category of the 2009 Gold Coast Honours awards and our own Gold Coast professional & highly skilled amateur musicians.
Four Classic cars will be "soloists" in this concert and will sit proudly in the auditorium with the audience and orchestra. A Rolls Royce Silver Shadow will be teamed with English Composer Eric Coates' orchestral work "Summer Days Suite". The Aston Martin will be accompanied by a medley of James Bond themes.A British MG will showcase a tribute to the Beatles for full orchestra and a 1950's Hudson will be teamed with the Medley from the American Opera "Porgy and Bess".
Other Classics in the program include Ava Maria by Gounod and Suite in D for Trumpet and Strings by Handel featuring Anthony Simmonds on trumpet.
Special guest tenor for the concert will be Andrew Lange and the concert will also feature the Youth Concerto Performance Opportunity recipient for 2010 Alex Alexus - Flute. This will be yet another concert of great variety and beauty.
The ticket price will include the concert and refreshments at interval with the musicians. Children are always welcome at Philharmonic Orchestra concerts and those under 12 are admitted free.
