The Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra is star struck with talent in a concert of exquisite music featuring soloists performing their favourite concert movements with the full 60 piece orchestra live on stage.

The 60 piece orchestra features Conductor Mark Turpin, winner of the Entertainment category of the 2009 Gold Coast Honours awards and our own Gold Coast professional & highly skilled amateur musicians.

The concert will also feature a classic overture, music from the stage & screen, a Xylophone feature with Paul Stanton-Cook & a new composition for full orchestra from Jazz Icon Ken Bennett.

Justin Hart and Lainie Carter - Flute - Dance of the Blessed Spirit, Gluck..

Yana de Groot - Violin - Violin Concert in D, Tchaikovsky.

Margaret McAteer - Piano - Piano Concerto No.1 in E Minor, Chopin

David Sue Yek - Cello - Cello Concert in B Minor, Dvorak.

Mark Turpin - Cor Anglais - 2nd Movt. New World Symphony, Dvorak.

Thomas Melton - Flute - Flute Concerto No.1 in G, Mozart

The ticket price will include the concert and refreshments at interval with the musicians. Children are always welcome at Philharmonic Orchestra concerts and those under 12 are admitted free.

An Open Rehearsal for Seniors Week

Thursday 19 August 2010, 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm. Gold Coast Youth Orchestra Centre, Community Drive, Ashmore.

A FREE EVENT FOR SENIORS WEEK

Sit inside the Orchestra with the musicians as the Conductor rehearses the music for the "Kaleidoscope" Concert Program.

Learn about the music, meet the musicians and enjoy supper at interval while chatting with the musicians.

Admission is FREE for Seniors, Friends of the Philharmonic and children. A donation would be appreciated from accompanying adults.
